Workshop Topic: Networking as an International Student & LinkedIn Workshop
The First-Year International Student Career Workshops Series is designed to support first-year international students as they begin their career development journey at Denison. Workshops are offered throughout the year and focus on common career needs and questions for international students, with topics thoughtfully sequenced to meet students where they are as they adjust to life at Denison and begin exploring their next steps.
For this workshop, we’ll focus on networking as an international student and using LinkedIn to build professional connections, with an emphasis on preparing for the upcoming Big Red Career Expo (BRCE). Students will explore approachable ways to introduce themselves, start conversations with employers and other professionals, and communicate their experiences and interests with confidence.
This session will be offered in collaboration with Multilingual Learning, bringing an additional language-focused perspective to networking and professional communication. Students will also learn how LinkedIn can support their networking before and after the Career Expo and how to begin building a professional online presence.
Whether you’re preparing to attend your first career fair, wondering what to say when meeting an employer, or simply looking to become more comfortable with professional networking, this workshop will provide practical strategies you can use at BRCE and beyond.
While this series is designed with the needs of first-year international students in mind, all Denison students are welcome to attend.
