Saturday Service with MagLiteracy
Details
We partner with organizations such as food banks and pantries; shelters for people experiencing homelessness, domestic abuse or human trafficking; schools; job training, youth mentoring and programs for children in foster care; veteran service groups; and rehabilitation programs for inmates to get the magazines into the hands of readers. Programs that distribute our magazines to readers can contact us directly with specific requests. We do not distribute directly to individuals.
Our volunteers sort and assemble reading materials to stock literacy newsstands, and into literacy boxes, which are then available locally for pickup or delivery, or they may be shipped as our available funds allow. We envision shifts from 10-12pm, but you can work the whole day if you are able.
We envision that students will begin partnering with MagLiteracy by volunteering at their warehouse organizing and sorting magazines on the 2nd Saturday of each month.
This is a great opportunity for large groups like FSL and Athletic Teams, a group of friends, or even to volunteer as an individual.
Please stay tuned for the address to the warehouse. j
