Join DU Votes for an event with our partners REV UP for their March National REV UP Call.

National REV UP Meetings are designed to keep you up-to-date and engaged. Each call kicks off with important updates, like upcoming funding opportunities or timely policy actions. Then, we dive into a featured discussion topic, often with an expert guest speaker.

To make the most of our time together, you'll also join small breakout groups where you can share ideas, strategize, and learn with others.

March Discussion Topic: Understanding and Addressing Mis/Disinformation This training will define misinformation and disinformation. It will help us understand how social media works and why inaccurate, harmful content develops and spreads. Then, we’ll spend time learning how to identify and evaluate mis/disinformation. Finally, we’ll learn and practice strategies for deciding if we should respond and how to respond. Take-home materials will be provided to registered attendees. This training will be led by Kelsey Suter and George Duarte.

About the Trainers Kelsey is a partner at Upswing, where she leads digital engagement and social listening work. Kelsey has a special focus on countering online propaganda and disinformation. Since 2020, she has helped lead a first-of-its-kind effort advising the progressive space to detect and counter political disinformation ahead of the presidential and midterm elections. She has been cited in the Philadelphia Inquirer, Washington Post, Politico, and various research publications.

George is a director at Upswing. With a career underscored by comprehensive political violence monitoring for clients worldwide, including in-depth work for the International Institute for Strategic Studies and Political Risk insurance firms, George has developed a nuanced understanding of the dynamics of political violence and its manifestations across different contexts. His commitment to advancing his knowledge is evident in his focus on the evolving role of AI in mis/disinformation, where he explores its impact on persuasion and public opinion in the digital era. George's multifaceted approach combines technical proficiency with a keen awareness of global political trends, positioning him as a valuable asset in crafting informed, data-driven campaign strategies.
