This dynamic workshop that invites participants to engage in a creative journey celebrating the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. and the richness of Black history. Through the powerful medium of painting, attendees will contribute to the creation of a vibrant communal banner. Guided by the theme of movement—both in thought and action—participants will explore how the brushstrokes on canvas can reflect the political struggle and enduring impact of MLK Jr. The workshop aims to blend individual expressions of art with a collective representation of shared history, fostering a sense of community and appreciation for the ongoing journey toward racial justice. As participants blend colors and ideas, they will contribute to a visual work that honors the resilience and significance of MLK Jr. and some of the broader narratives of Black history.

Shuttle service will be available to help individuals get to the Mitchell Athletic Center from the flagpole as needed, and from the Mitchell Athletic Center to Eisner Fine Arts, and finally from Eisner Fine Arts to Curtis Dining Hall.
