About Us

At Denison University, we believe that involvement fosters community. All of our student organizations are open to every student, regardless of background, interests, or experience. Our groups are centered on inclusivity, connection, and shared passions—so explore, engage, and become part of our vibrant community.

The HERE US Arts Collective is a new student organization at Denison. Our mission is to nurture a supportive community where POC, regardless of artistic experience or background, can explore their individuality and celebrate their culture through creative expression. Whether members want to develop their individual artistic voices, collaborate with others to create work, or simply discover and appreciate a rich intersection of art and culture, this is the place. The HERE US Arts Collective will collaborate with Denison’s Theatre Department to create the annual HERE US production, which originated our values and community. Now in its 5th year, HERE US showcases diverse stories, work, and ideas from the complex POC identity. Beyond this collaboration, the HERE US Arts Collective will offer a range of events and opportunities throughout the year, encouraging members to explore their creativity and engage with the community at any level of commitment.

Members Benefits

- Creative expression and skills-building: Through events like workshops, members have the opportunity to learn about and experiment with a wide range of art forms, from visual art to theater, music, and writing, regardless of their prior experience. Hopefully, this can be a place for artists to develop their unique creative voice as well. - Cultural empowerment and POC representation: Members can be part of a community that uplifts the diverse POC identities. Through art, HERE US members can tell their own stories and highlight cultural narratives, aesthetics, and art mediums that may otherwise be underrepresented. - Networking: HUACC can provide an environment where members can connect with other artists, creators, and cultural advocates on campus, as well as the opportunity to work closely with the Theatre Department and professional guest artists if they choose to be part of our annual production in the spring. - Showcasing art: Members have a platform to present their work in the annual HERE US production in the spring, as well as other events hosted throughout the year. This will help members, regardless of artistic experience, gain exposure and confidence in their abilities and self-expression. - Flexibility: Whether students want to participate regularly or on a more casual basis, whether or not they would like to be part of the larger production, there are various opportunities for involvement to fit every level of commitment.
