Join us for a screening of Banned Together, a new feature-length documentary exploring how students, educators, and communities are responding to the current wave of book challenges in public schools. The film follows three high school seniors in Beaufort, South Carolina, as they push back against a series of book removals in their school district. For more on the film, visit www.bannedtogetherdoc.com.

Following the 90-minute screening, audience members are invited to stay for a panel discussion with professionals offering reflections and context on the film’s central themes: censorship, access to education, and the power of community advocacy.

Enjoy refreshments and leave with your own banned book or audiobook! Guests are welcome to come and go as needed; whether you stay for the full program or just a portion, your presence is valued. While the event is free and open to the public, we kindly ask that you RSVP. Registrants may receive a follow-up message from the film’s producers inviting feedback on the documentary.

This event is co-sponsored by Denison Libraries, the Department of Education, Queer Studies Program, Department of Communication, Department of Politics and Public Affairs, Department of English, the Center for Belonging and Inclusion, and Outlook.
