Subject: FSL Newsletter - Welcome Back!

Happy new year!

I hope you all had a great winter break - and were able to rest and relax with families and loved ones. With the spring semester comes the time for new members - we're thrilled to see our community grow.

As we embark on this semester, we hope you will take a moment to reflect on how far we've all come this year - and how far we will grow until May! We encourage you to keep your safety and wellbeing at the forefront during this busy season. As new members come into your organizations, we hope that you will share the many values of our community and your organizations - and encourage them to build deep, strong friendships with those siblings and others in and outside of your council.

We know spring can be busy - so we'll continue to provide monthly newsletters to provide the most up-to-date information for you to lead your organization.

We hope you have a great semester!
Ashley & Kyle

2024 Calendar

As a reminder, we wanted to re-share the calendar for January - May 2024 - these were shared in October so that you were able to take a peek and plan accordingly.

Please note that events for summer and fall are still tentative.

With the conclusion of Standards of Excellence for Fall 2023, we also are excited to launch our FSL awards! The following three FSL awards will be presented at the Distinguished Leadership Awards Ceremony sponsored by Student Life on March 27th in Mitchell Athletics Center.

FSL Chapter of the Year
Chapter of the Year has historically been a submission form - but we have updated this to include both a submission and a 20 minute presentation to a group of judges to evaluate. If your chapter is eligible, your incoming and outgoing Chapter President should have received more information about this with a sign up link.

All nominations/applications for member and advisor of the year are due on February 1, 2024.  Those submission forms can be found in WhatToDU - Fraternity & Sorority Life - Surveys.

Standards of Excellence documentation is slowing coming in and we're reviewing on a rolling basis. As a reminder chapters are required to participate in the Standards of Excellence to be a recognized and in good-standing fraternity or sorority.

The full SOE can be found here. Please note that chapters will be expected to complete the full expectations beginning January 2024. Any newly elected officers will be trained in January.

More information will be shared, including a how to video from Kyle!

Last week Kyle shared a google folder with SOE trackers and updated WhatToDU rosters. All chapters need to review their roster and confirm it is accurate. Once confirmed, all members on the roster will be provided space access.

Additionally, please remember to use the Roster Addition and Roster Removal forms linked earlier in this newsletter.

As the year starts, we would like to re-share some important documents and resources for you to bookmark.
